The philosophy

The educational program of Mikros Maestros is based on the principles of respect and responsibility. It is founded on children’s intrinsic and spontaneous need for exploration. It allows for a self-directed curriculum based on children’s interests, supported by educators and parents who create a community of adults that fosters children’s learning within the organized facilities of Mikros Maestros.

Children are the citizens of TODAY and the owners of TOMORROW. Our goal is to create the necessary conditions to build the future of our children. The three primary guides in their lives are parents, educators, and the environment. At Mikros Maestros, we have structured an educational program that integrates all three, providing children with the best tools for their future.

Through this program, children gain control over the direction of their learning. They learn through touch, movement, hearing, sight, and listening, while also developing relationships—both socially, with their peers, and with the material elements of their environment. These elements become subjects of exploration for the children, and through them, we provide endless ways and opportunities for them to express themselves.

At Mikros Maestros, educators are companions and collaborators for the child, not just instructors. In the daily educational program, they facilitate children’s learning by designing activities and lessons based on the child’s interests, asking questions for deeper understanding, and actively participating in the activities alongside the child. Rather than standing back as mere observers, they engage in the learning process, as the educator, as a child’s partner, must be actively involved in their journey of learning.

The annual educational planning is essential for setting educational goals and later assessing their achievement together with you. However, throughout the school year, we will also incorporate unexpected events and emerging interests of the children to develop relevant projects. Therefore, we do not aim for a rigid, strictly implemented educational program but rather continuously adapt it to meet current needs. Learning is a dynamic process that is constantly evolving.

The organization of activities integrates all learning areas and subjects (language, mathematics, personal and social development, natural sciences, creativity and expression, technology, etc.) to provide opportunities for well-rounded development.

Since our goal is for parents to play an active role in the learning process, we maintain an educational platform where you can stay in touch with teachers and receive updates on your child’s daily progress. Additionally, when necessary, meetings and collaboration with parents are planned, and you will be informed accordingly.

You can view materials from our daily activities on the Mikros Maestros Facebook page.

The facilities

Specifically, the Infant and Preschool Center, which includes the infant section, toddler section, and young pre-kindergarten, is housed in a beautiful mansion that has been transformed into a childcare center in Galini, Oraiokastro, at 15 Narkissou Street. The Mikros Maestros facilities are fully renovated, with wonderful spaces inspired by fairy tales, children’s imagery, and music, designed to create a familiar and well-organized environment for the children.

Each section has its own small community space, its own restroom, and its own resting area. The classrooms are filled with educational games, fairy tale books, audiovisual learning tools, tables, and small chairs for creative activities or meals. Additionally, each section has its own library and a designated workspace for the teacher, ensuring an organized and structured learning environment.

The school features a 1,000-square-meter outdoor area, equipped with educational and recreational games, a dedicated sports area, and a garden where children plant flowers as part of their gardening lessons. The school is also fully accessible to individuals with disabilities.

The Kindergarten and Creative Activities Center of Mikros Maestros is located in the first building that Mikros Maestros used from the beginning of its operation, at 38 Aristotelous Street in Oraiokastro. It is a beloved school, cherished by both parents and staff for the warm and inspiring atmosphere it creates.

This school hosts the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes, housed in two separate classrooms. Each class has its own books, toys, and educational materials. The Kindergarten class features the magical piano of the founder of Mikros Maestros, which has been played by countless children over the years, along with many other musical instruments.

The school also includes a multimedia room equipped with audiovisual materials and an interactive whiteboard. Each class has its own library and a dedicated workspace for the teacher, ensuring a well-organized and structured environment.

This school also features a lending library, where all children can borrow books. The outdoor area includes a certified playground and play area, where children can safely play and enjoy themselves.

Mikros Maestros has its own fully certified and regulated kitchen, where the school’s chef prepares fresh meals daily for the children.

Both buildings and facilities of Mikros Maestros have all the necessary operating licenses from the Department of Welfare, the Fire Department, and all relevant state inspection services for childcare centers.
