Reading Literacy Workshop
The daily involvement of children, from an early age, with electronic media for information and entertainment has significantly reduced their interest in seeking knowledge and pleasure through reading quality extracurricular books. However, a good book is undoubtedly a timeless value that promotes the intellectual, moral, and cultural level of society.
For this reason, there is a growing need to promote reading literacy from an early age, with the help of both the family and the school, and to rebuild the child’s relationship with books. Introducing young students to the magical world of literature and helping them develop a positive and stable reading habit is one of the main goals of modern educational policy.
Our school aims to enrich the educational process with creative activities, using quality books to contribute to the intellectual, emotional, and moral growth of the student’s personality. Through the Reading Literacy workshop, we aim to familiarize students with literary books. However, through the process of reading, we also foster the development of the child’s language expression, communication skills, and narrative abilities. The student’s language is “unlocked,” and their imagination unfolds. The student’s horizons are broadened, and their critical thinking is developed.
In the Reading Literacy workshop, in collaboration with publishers, we select relevant literary books that encourage and motivate the student to take an interest. Initially, we focus on discussing and commenting on the theme of the book, sharing experiences and opinions. Then, we explore specific elements of the book, such as the cover or the blurb, which help us enter the world of the book. Once we open the book, we embark on an incredible adventure that does not end when we finish reading.
We discuss, design, play, and most importantly, we learn and have fun at the same time!
LET’S ALLOW BOOKS TO ENTER OUR LIVES AND CONQUER OUR SOULS!!!
