Infant Section for Children Aged 2 Months to 1.5 Years

At the infant section of Mikros Maestros, we care for the biological and developmental needs of infants with sensitivity and responsibility. We organize their environment and daily schedule with appropriate stimuli and activities based on modern educational principles. Respecting each child’s individual growth and adaptation pace, we ensure a smooth transition from home to the school environment, tailored to each infant’s unique needs.

Our goal is to support children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development, helping them acquire skills, self-confidence, and enjoyment through primarily experiential learning approaches. We aim for the early experiences of infancy to contribute to children’s self-awareness and independence as they grow.

• Motor Strengthening

Supporting the development of gross motor skills, balance, movement stabilization, spatial awareness, and understanding of their body’s capabilities.

Enhancing hand dexterity, wrist and finger movement control, hand-eye coordination, and attention focus.

Toddler Section for Children Aged 2 to 3 Years

In the toddler section of Mikros Maestros, children begin to acquire their first knowledge, mainly related to the physical environment, their own body, and the family environment, areas that are closely related to their personal experiences. At this tender age, it is time for children to meet new friends, engage in creative play, share their emotions, and become part of a group of peers, while still maintaining their uniqueness.

The activities are based solely on play, aiming at developing basic skills upon which we will build knowledge about the world around them. We encourage them to use language to express their thoughts, assist social interactions, and engage in imitative play. We introduce them to new materials to help them adapt their fine motor skills to the appropriate age-appropriate use of these materials. They advance in their self-awareness and understanding of their body’s capabilities and begin to care for themselves.

We are here to support them, offering them a space at Mikros Maestros filled with the warmth and embrace of home, ready to fill them with knowledge, colors, images, and imagination through music and movement activities, theatrical play, and many beautiful stories! They discover themselves, the world around them, and we are here to embrace them and accompany them on their wonderful journey of exploration, providing the right equipment and a variety of educational and learning tools, along with our extensive experience to achieve our educational goals, which are as follows:

• Motor Strengthening

For the development of basic motor skills, strengthening balance, performing static and dynamic movements, understanding basic spatial concepts, and practicing gross motor skills. Our deeper goal is to improve hand-eye coordination, achieve greater control over small muscles and limbs, encourage grip strength, and practice fine motor skills.

• Cognitive Strengthening

Based on the cultivation of oral language, expanding vocabulary through linguistic activities, enhancing critical thinking and observation skills, encouraging counting through mathematical activities, solving simple daily problems, and learning self-care routines through the Montessori approach. Our goal is to expose children to various materials, develop their senses, and help them discover the world through sensory and messy play.

• Emotional Empowerment

Through self-awareness, we aim to help children understand basic emotions, cultivate self-awareness, empathy, and strengthen self-confidence and the sense of respect.

• Social Awareness

Building on the exchange of ideas and opinions, we develop a sense of teamwork and community.

• Theatrical Play and Puppet Theatre

To foster experiential learning, allowing children to engage with the art of aesthetics and express themselves and their thoughts.

Small Preschool Section for Children Aged 3 to 4 Years

This section includes children aged 3-4 years. At this stage, children make a significant leap from the toddler phase to the preschool stage. This developmental journey is supported and enhanced by a team of specially trained educators in collaboration with professional specialists, aiming to create an intervention program that respects the uniqueness of each student and individually addresses their needs.

The goal of our educational community is to create an environment in which each student is approached individually, develops, and is prepared for the next developmental stages. The starting point is the existing knowledge and local context of each child, which we use to select the appropriate tools and techniques. In this way, we create a multisensory educational framework, where each child has the opportunity to develop both cognitively and social-emotionally. The child begins to “learn how to learn”, builds new knowledge independently, and develops skills necessary for life!

The educational team, in collaboration with professional specialists, sets goals in each of the aforementioned developmental areas, respecting the different learning styles and paces of the student community. The goal of the intervention programs is to promote the holistic social-emotional and cognitive development of the students. Specifically, teaching is organized according to the following areas:

• Personal and Social Development

Learning self-care, hygiene rules, developing social and teamwork skills, communication skills, self-regulation, emotion management, ways of coping with situations, and fostering empathy.

• Natural Sciences and Environment

Through observation and reflection, we aim to cultivate logical thinking and spatial orientation. Our children learn about animals, plants, traffic education, weather changes, and many other interesting and useful topics.

• Arts

Utilizing music, dance, and theater as tools for self-expression and exploring the world around us, along with exposure to a variety of materials and media.

• Physical Education

We focus on gross motor skills, fine motor skills, perceptual-motor skills, physical fitness, body awareness, cooperation, and the application of rules—all achieved through physical education.

• Language

Focusing on developing oral language, expanding vocabulary through pre-writing exercises.

• Mathematics and Technology

Through counting, shapes, understanding the concept of time, and educational computer games, we aim to introduce children to the fields of mathematics and technology.

Preschool for Children Aged 4 to 5 Years

Kindergarten represents the first and most important contact a child has with the educational community. The experiences and knowledge gained during this contact will often define the child’s attitude towards education. For this reason, and after decades of efforts, the Greek state established compulsory attendance for children in kindergarten, recognizing, to some extent, the necessity and importance of the goals and objectives of kindergarten. These objectives, according to current legislation, are to help children develop physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially within the framework of the broader goals of primary education.

The private kindergarten Mikros Maestros, as a key institution for the child’s socialization after the family, ensures the conditions for children to develop and socialize in a smooth and comprehensive manner.

To achieve the goals and objectives of kindergarten, a methodological approach is required for the cognitive subjects of the program, which is based on the experiential working method (projects), which motivates children’s interest and their active participation in the educational process. This approach contributes to the development of autonomy and initiative, and also facilitates the development of a spirit of collaboration between children and educators.

Attending Mikros Maestros private kindergarten is essential because:

• Children receive education from specialized educational staff trained for the 4-6 age group, specifically kindergarten teachers (PE60).
• By attending for two years (as toddlers and preschoolers), children are given the opportunity to effectively complete and achieve the goals of the current curriculum, which are prerequisites for successfully meeting the demands of primary school.
• During the two years of attendance, the opportunity to explore and prevent learning difficulties is ensured, along with their early intervention until the child starts elementary school. This is what is referred to as “early intervention” in kindergarten.
• It facilitates a smooth transition for children to primary school.

Το νηπιαγωγείο αποτελεί την πρώτη και σημαντικότερη επαφή κάθε ανθρώπου με την εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα, και οι εμπειρίες καθώς και οι γνώσεις που θα αποκομίσει από αυτήν την επαφή, θα καθορίσουν «εν πολλάκις » και τη στάση του απέναντι στην εκπαίδευση. Για το λόγο αυτό και ύστερα από αγώνες δεκαετιών το Ελληνικό κράτος, θεσμοθέτησε την υποχρεωτική φοίτηση των νηπίων, αναγνωρίζοντας ως ένα βαθμό την αναγκαιότητα και την χρησιμότητα των σκοπών και των στόχων του Νηπιαγωγείου. Οι οποίοι στόχοι του Νηπιαγωγείου, σύμφωνα με την κείμενη νομοθεσία είναι να βοηθά τα νήπια να αναπτυχθούν σωματικά, συναισθηματικά, νοητικά και κοινωνικά μέσα στο πλαίσιο των ευρύτερων στόχων της πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης. Το ιδιωτικό νηπιαγωγείο Ο Μικρός Μαέστρος, ως φορέας κοινωνικοποίησης του παιδιού, μετά την οικογένεια, εξασφαλίζει τις προϋποθέσεις ώστε τα παιδιά να αναπτύσσονται και να κοινωνικοποιούνται ομαλά και πολύπλευρα.

Για την επίτευξη των σκοπών και στόχων του νηπιαγωγείου απαιτείται μεθοδολογική προσέγγιση των γνωστικών αντικειμένων του προγράμματος που το στηρίζουμε στη βιωματική μέθοδο εργασίας (projects), η οποία κινητοποιεί το ενδιαφέρον των παιδιών και την ενεργητική συμμετοχή τους στην παιδευτική διαδικασία. Συμβάλλει στην ανάπτυξη της αυτονομίας και της πρωτοβουλίας και διευκολύνει επίσης την ανάπτυξη πνεύματος συνεργασίας παιδιών και εκπαιδευτικών.

Η φοίτηση των νηπίων και προνηπίων λοιπόν, στο ιδιωτικό νηπιαγωγείο του Μικρού Μαέστρου είναι αναγκαία διότι:

• Λαμβάνουν εκπαίδευση από εκπαιδευτικό προσωπικό εξειδικευμένο για την εκπαίδευση της ηλικιακής ομάδας 4-6 ετών, δηλαδή από νηπιαγωγούς του κλάδου ΠΕ60.
• Διότι φοιτώντας δύο χρόνια (ως προνήπια και ως νήπια) δίνεται η δυνατότητα να ολοκληρώσουν αποτελεσματικά και να υλοποιήσουν τους στόχους του υπάρχοντος αναλυτικού προγράμματος που είναι προαπαιτούμενοι για να μπορέσουν να αντεπεξέλθουν επιτυχώς στις απαιτήσεις του δημοτικού σχολείου.
• Διότι μέσα στα δύο χρόνια φοίτησης διασφαλίζεται η δυνατότητα διερεύνησης και πρόληψης των μαθησιακών δυσκολιών και η έγκαιρη αντιμετώπιση τους μέχρι το παιδί να φοιτήσει στο δημοτικό σχολείο. Δίνεται δηλαδή η δυνατότητα να επιτευχθεί στο νηπιαγωγείο, αυτό που ονομάζεται «πρώιμη παρέμβαση».
• Διότι διευκολύνει την ομαλή μετάβαση των παιδιών στο δημοτικό σχολείο.
